What influence does music have in your life as a creative?:
I often need to shut off to the hub-bub of an office and spend probably fifty percent of every day with my headphones on.
Music is a constant for me, in the mornings at home. On my bike on the way to work, in the office and in the evening when cooking. I have multiple playlists that are constantly growing, the largest of which is a collaborative playlist with the guys I brew beer with.
None of the playlists I have can take the place of last.fm and the recommendations channel that was available on the old app before they stopped streaming. I still scrobble all my music, recording details of what track, artist and time of playing to my last.fm profile database. Last.fm was suited to me perfectly as I was able to listen to all of the music I had ever scrobbled on shuffle plus new recommendations as part of my personal stream.
I am constantly seeking out new music and rarely listen to an album from start to finish. I hate that experience of hearing the first notes of the next track in your head as the previous track ends. Shuffle rules my listening.
Tell us about your playlist:
Picking music for this playlist was challenging as I have eclectic tastes, however I started with my “new” playlist on Spotify. I regularly listen to Fresh Finds, 6music playlist and Release Radar playlists as they change regularly and often add tracks from these playlists to my new playlist.
As I was choosing tracks I felt there were strong connections from the music I like now with tracks from my past that I still listen to regularly so explored my last.fm loved tracks to choose some older tracks to add too.
This turned out to be a vast list.
I therefore restricted it mainly to dance music (as it was referred to in my formative years) and there are many of my favourite tracks missing such as Daft Punk’s Da Funk and Sebastian Tellier – La Ritournelle.
But those that made the list are what to sprang to mind in relation to the new tracks and my other current listening.
