What influence does music have in your life as a creative?:
I tend to gravitate towards music that marries up with my aesthetic (if that makes sense) – I was really into deep progressive house music growing up, and I think part of it’s appeal for me was the order, and ‘neatness’ of it – I had a short lived career as a ‘hobbyist’ DJ, but the majority of Blackburn’s audience weren’t overly appreciative of very niche and deep house music.
I believe that music is an essential tool for designers – it helps me to set the tone and pace of my working practice, and it’s as valid an inspiration as a poster, film or book.

I’ve pulled together a selection of tracks from various ‘studio’ playlists I’ve compiled over the last few years. It’s a balanced mixture of electronica, house, soul and some alternative choices – Hopefully you’ll enjoy it as something to work along to.
